I grew up in North Cambridge just down the street from the late Tip O’Neil. At that time I didn’t realize what the impact of knowing the man who today I feel was the epitomy of what a politician should be. After high school, I went to and graduated from East Coast Aero Technical School. My career in the Aero Space field, however, was short lived due to the collapse in the airline industry. I have also attended Middlesex and Bunker Hill Community Colleges.

I tried my hand at several occupations. Then, in 1977 I was appointed to the Somerville Fire Department. I have been there now for 30 years. Since January of 2006, I have been assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau. My main responsibility is the inspections of hospitals, schools, group homes, etc. to ensure that these buildings meet appropriate fire codes.

I married my wife, Maureen Bagge, in January of 2002. We purchased our current home that May. We have both been involved in the community. I was a member of Mayor McCarthy’s Health Care Committee. I ran for Waltham Councillor at Large in November 2005.

Currently, I am a member of the following organizations:

• Waltham Council of Neighborhood Activists (WCONA)

• Somerville Firefighters Relief Association, Secretary

My wife, Maureen, is a current member of both the Waltham Cultural Council and the Bike Trail Committee. For the last 11 years, she has been the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator at Framingham State College.

I have two children, Kristen and Matthew. Kristen graduated from Colby (BA) and Harvard (MA) and is a Clinical Trial Specialist at Beth Israel Hospital. Matthew is a Coast Guard veteran and is a member of the Saugus Fire Department.
